The Theosophical movement has had a notable impact on education, particularly in terms of integrating spiritual and philosophical perspectives into learning. Overall, its influence on education is evident in its advocacy for a more integrated, spiritually aware, and globally conscious approach to teaching and learning. In this lecture, Janet Kerschner will present some of the educational theories and initiatives influenced by Theosophy and the Theosophical movement. She will discuss Raja Yoga schools, the Montessori Method, Waldorf education, Krishnamurti schools, and modern Theosophical schools.
Janet Kerschner has worked in the Archives of the Theosophical Society in America since 2006. Previously she had volunteered in the Olcott Library and worked on the Society’s preparations for the 1993 Parliament of the World’s Religions. As archivist, she is responsible for the organizational records of the TSA and special collections from individual Theosophists such as Boris de Zirkoff, Fritz and Dora Kunz, and Clara Codd. The Archives Department preserves records in many formats, including papers, photographs, audiovisual materials, computer files, art, and artifacts. She also works with Pablo Sender to administer the Theosophy Wiki, a collaborative encyclopedia about Theosophy and the Theosophical movement.
