As we build our material lives, our finite body-souls enter into the Sacred through the paradoxical journey of soul making—becoming in the physical world what we already are in the eternity of the Divine. But how can we construct our everyday lives so they reflect the Divine nature of our souls?
In this presentation, based on his new book Soul Making: The Realization of the Mystical Life, Douglas M. Gillette will discuss this emergence of Personhood. He will interweave a wide range of fields and ideas:
- the nature of being and non-being
- the strange nature of Nature
- the emergence of time from eternity and space from infinity
- the process of cosmic and biological evolution
- goodness and evil
- other dimensions and their inhabitants
- the character of the Divine
- the problem of generating the many from the One
Contemplation of these issues can propel us into states of astonishment, fear, wonder, awe, exaltation, humility and love—for ourselves, all these multitudes of others, and the Person within whom "we live and move and have our being."
