We initiated a new study this past fall, "Theosophy and World Religions," based on material received from the National Lodge of the Theosophical Society in America.  Each month we will explore the growth of religion, from primal religion all the way up to the new age.  The course covers the relationship of theosophy and esoteric teaching to the exoteric religions of the world.  It is important to us as Theosophists to understand the world's religions and their connection to the timeless inner truths known to the wise from the beginning.  We will try to look at the timeless spiritual heritage of each religion, yet also put each in context of our troubled planet and its combative cultures.  Please plan to join us for these discussions.

Part 9.  Vajrayana and Zen.  "Vajrayana, the 'Diamond' or 'Thunderbolt' way is the Buddhism of Tibet, Mongolia, Bhutan, and Nepal, and has had influence elsewhere, especially in the Shingon denomination in Japan.  Tantric-influenced and highly esoteric, it makes great use of mandalas of cosmic buddhas and bodhisattvas, powerful visualization meditations, and elaborate rituals.  Zen, on the other hand, though it has some formalities, is famous for its exaltation of naturalness and simplicity."

This concludes our public and members' meetings for the season.  We will resume our public study of Theosophy and World Religions and the theosophical talks by Tony Fisichella for our members' studies in September.  We look forward to seeing you after the summer break.
